THE LEGEND LIVES

Since 1974, Eppie’s The Great Race® has come to symbolize Sacramento summers, providing world-class athletic competition in a fun-filled community event. This year, Eppie Johnson’s family announced that the 2018 The Great Race® would be their last.

But the event known as the World’s Oldest Triathlon® will live on, rechristened as the Great American Triathlon®, and now brought to you by Innovations Health Systems, a Roseville-based healthcare holding and management company. The 2019 Great American Triathlon®  will be the best no-swim triathlon yet, with more pre and post-race activities and more fun than ever before, culminating with a post-race party celebrating this year’s winners and participants. All proceeds from the event benefit select area non-profits.

Become a Champion

For the Great American Triathlon® to live up to its name, we need teams and individuals interested in competing in an event as unique as the American River Parkway itself. From hard-core triathletes to casual teams of friends or co-workers, there are race categories for of all skill levels and from age 14 and up.

Are you a serious athlete? The challenge of the no-swim triathlon is a real one, with the ebb and flow of the American River pitting you against mother nature herself and requiring a skill set that transcends the normal triathlon.

Are you a weekend warrior or sometimes kayaker? Team up with family, co-workers or friends and see how much fun can be had in our team races.

Are you just interested in having fun with your family and friends and enjoying the beauty of the American River Parkway? Attend the race and post-race party that caps off the day’s events.

Participation will be limited to 500 teams and 1,500 individual competitors, so dust off your paddles, grab your friends, and sign up today to experience the next generation of fun in the Sacramento sun!
