Reach Your Potential
Reach Your Potential (RYP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of local youth. Through the Great American Triathlon event, RYP hopes to make a difference in the greater-Sacramento community by supporting local charities who share our vision for a brighter future.
Board Members
Ken McGuire – Chair
Ken McGuire is the President/CEO of Innovations Health Systems, a multi-service holding company of entities that address the needs of the communities in which they operate. Prior to co-founding IHS in 2012, Ken served as president and CEO of Rocklin-based Horizon West Healthcare, Inc., overseeing 27 healthcare facilities in California and Utah. Ken has served on a number of for-profit and non-profit boards, including current duties as board chair for Innovations Health Systems, Inc. and Reach Your Potential, a non-profit supporting various children’s charities. He also has previously served as board chair for Child Advocates of Placer County (CASA).
Ken holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Managerial Economics as well as a Masters of Business Administration, both from the University of California at Davis, where he also served as an adjunct professor at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management, teaching courses in Corporate Turnarounds and Integrated Change Management. Ken lives in Meadow Vista with his wife, Julie. They have two adult children and have recently welcomed their first grandchild.
Ellen Brown – Member
Ellen Brown is the Director, Community Integration for UC Davis Health. In this role she works
collaboratively with other local health systems, community-based organizations, safety-net providers, and county and city government on strategic community health initiatives to increase access to healthcare and address social drivers of health.
She leads UC Davis Health’s engagement in the regional hospital Community Health Needs Assessment collaborative and the associated implementation strategy that helps guide UC Davis Health’s local community benefit investments.
After almost 30 years of working in healthcare, including at non-profit and for-profit health plans and for a large integrated delivery system, she believes that partnerships make our work rewarding and impactful and that healthcare shouldn’t be hard for people to navigate.
Ellen has a BA in Women’s Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley.
Ellen currently serves on the board of the Food Literacy Center and Community HealthWorks.
Rich Hanna – Member
Mr. Hanna owns and operates Capital Road Race Management, Northern California’s premier race management and timing company. Founded in 1999, Capital Road Race organizes and/or times nearly 100 annual running events including Run to Feed the Hungry (the nation’s largest Thanksgiving Day running event), Urban Cow Half Marathon and the California International Marathon. Through their events, Rich and Capital Road Race have assisted countless charities in raising millions of dollars over the past twenty-two years.
Rich has also authored or co-authored five running-related books including the best-selling Ultimate Guide to Marathons and the Ultimate Training Journal. A 2:17 marathoner and US Olympic Trials marathon qualifier, Rich has shared his running knowledge by coaching over 3,000 marathoners and half marathoners through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program and his non-profit running group Harey Tortuga Fitness.
Kek Roys – Member
Kek Roys is the Vice President of Healthcare Risks of Bender Insurance Solutions, the largest and only employee-owned commercial insurance brokerage in the Sacramento region. Kek was recruited to create the Healthcare division for BIS in 2013. Kek achieved profitable revenue growth for BIS and developed a highly regarded reputation within the healthcare community. Kek is passionate about guiding Healthcare Organizations to Become an Employer of Choice while protecting their assets and maximize their net worth through tactical risk financing and benefit strategies. Kek serves clients not only in the Healthcare, but Property, and Non-profit industries as well.
Kek earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences emphasis in Neurological, Physiological and Behavioral Biology. She has earned her designation as a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Risk Manager (CRM). Kek lives in Elk Grove with her husband Scott and their two children.
